    Moon Bright, Star Light

Was on the way out to get some snacks when I noticed the bright moon outside. It's been awhile since I last saw the moon so big and bright. 'em Werewolves must be having quite a party, I'm sure.

A Random Quote: "If I Die"

If I die, I die knowing I'd loved her with all my heart. If I die, she will regret knowing she has lost the person who had loved her the most.

    The Games That We Play

Proving that those who work at MSN Malaysia are indeed a crazy bunch, we have this customary game we only play if we wanted to have lunch at the Food Gardens @ Gardens Mid Valley. We call it: The Elevator Game! *jeng jeng jeng*

This is how you play: one of us will press the button, and you stand at the door of the elevator which you think will open. Winner get bragging rights, like how the lil one Lydia always brag that she always guess correctly *roll eyes*

So yes, if we have 10 people, you will usually see a bunch of us standing in front of the elevator. And you will also see a bunch of people staring at us. Which we don't mind. 'Cos we are having fun =)

Jo won today's game. Beginner's luck, I would say.

    I'm A Hard-Core Criminal

So, one day, my co-worker Johanan was watching an episode of Leverage and this guy was listed as the Most Wanted Man by the International Police:

Apparently, I'm a hardcore criminal who is high on the Interpol's Most Wanted Man list :D Awesome!!

Pants On The Ground And Everything In Between

As you should have known by now - unless you have been living under a rock - that the ninth season of American Idol officially kicked off last week. I have still not gotten over Season 8 though, that's 'cos my fave Idol from Season 8 is making headlines and rockin' as hard as before.

The reason why I like Adam Lambert as a performer is because of his originality (remember 'If I Can't Have You'?), his musical talents and soaring vocal range, and definitely his mesmerizing performances on stage. Come and think of it, I have never really liked any guy Idols before Lambert because 1) the ladies are always hotter (and more talented) 2) they all look and sound the same and 3) I'm not gay, thank you very much.

OK, coming back to Idol Season 9, I know it's only two episodes into the new season, but I think I have already found my favourites and yeap, you guessed it: they are pretty, talented hot chicks.

My first favourite is 21-year-old Ashley Rodriguez from the Boston audition rounds. She is super sweet, has a very nice smile and gawd, she can sing as well! She sang Alicia Keys' 'If I Ain't Got You' and she sailed through with flying colours. Simon even said she "has it", and if you are an Idol junkie, you know you don't hear that often from Simon.

My second favourite is 20-year-old Mallorie Haley from the Atlanta audition rounds. She is really cute,
blonde (those who know me well knows that I have a soft spot for blonde girls =p) and she sounds a lot
like Carrie Underwood. Like, if you close your eyes and listen, the uncanny resemblance is just amazing. She sang Faith Hill's 'Piece Of My Heart' and like my dear Ashley, sailed through to Hollywood. Really do
hope both of them will be in the Top 12. *crosses fingers*

And of course, who can forget The General, Larry Pratt, and his super-infectious 'Pants on the Ground' (you look like a fool with your pants on the ground). The 62-year-old real American hero, unlike William Hung, managed to upstage all the "real" singers on the Atlanta auditions episode with his instantly viral hit that left the judges gasping for air. And yeah, Simon was right when he said that 'Pants on the Ground' will become an instant hit.

Just some random facts: did you know that General Larry Pratt has his own holiday in Atlanta, on
September 4th? And that he was a student of Martin Luther King? He ain't no fool with his pants on the
    ground, mind you!

    *****

In spirit of the General, I came up with my very own pick-up line:

"Hi, my name is ______. Would you like to see my
    Pants on the Ground?"

    Pretty smart, huh? =P

    If I Wasn't A Writer...

Remember when you were younger, and you see a policeman or a doctor on TV, you turn to your mom and say, "Mommy, when I grow up, I wanna be a policeman". Or you when you see Superman on TV, you dream of becoming Superman? Of course, everyone wants to be Superman, but surviving a ten-storey fall is another story lah.

Believe it or not, when I was younger, I never thought of becoming a writer. In fact, it was my mom who chose my major in college. It wasn't until my second year in university that I realised I wanted to do advertising, but it was too late to make a U-turn that time. Not to say I don't like writing - I heart writing! - but when I was younger, I thought of becoming a lot of things - the White Power Ranger being one :P

So, if I wasn't a writer, I would most probably be...

    1) A doctor, a policeman or a lawyer
Ask any little boy: it is an unwritten rule that they MUST become either a) a doctor b) a policeman or c) a lawyer when they grow up. I wasn't any different. But the older you got, you realised that a) you are too broke to pursue medicine b) being a policeman means you eat bread every end of the month and c) you get so fed up arguing with your girlfriend, you don't wanna argue for a living anymore.

Sorry la, the closest picture I have got that looks like a lawyer

    2) A comic artist
Here's a less known fact: when I was in Standard Six, I bought myself a thirty page, big notebook and I drew a Power Rangers (yes, I was a big fan back then) comic book complete with my own story line and new characters. I love drawing when I was younger, I used to spend hours and hours drawing stuff like Godzilla, Ultraman and of course, the Power Rangers. But too bad my love for drawing grew out with age.

Something I drew using my phone in the train. Cute, right?

    3) A professional basketball player
Like they say: if you wanna get rich, play some sort of ball. (Note: ball is singular, so no jokes about playing with balls, OK people?)

    4) A travel host
I like traveling, meeting new people, see cool stuff and acting all crazy at some other people's country. The sad part? I'm too broke to go traveling. The best part? As a travel host, you get PAID for enjoying yourself. Because I'm in the entertainment line, I might still be able to become a travel host (hopefully!). So wish me luck =)

    5) An actor or a singer
They say Geminis make good actors or singers but actors don't necessary make good Geminis (wtf!!). I guess me being a Gemini means that I like being in the center of attention, and there's no better way to do that than being an actor or a singer. I used to be quite an entertainer when I was younger, but the older I grew, I shy already.

    6) Professional prostitute tester
    Never mind.

She is not one, by the way.

But after all that's said and done, I still prefer writing stuff like this for you guys to read! =)

    Drinking The New Year Away

Well, OK. It didn't really take place on New Year's Eve, but any day is a good day to drink, right? To usher in the New Year, we the Refine & Define bunch of '09 has decided to invade TOM, DICK & HARRY's @ TTDI for a round of (very crazy) drinking session. I'm not really an everyday drinker, but more of like a social drinker. And because Uncle Alvin insists that we all come out and gather for the first time in 2010 (and I kinda blew them off the first drinking session a month before that), I was more than glad to join the bunch this time around.

Aaron decides to camwhore with the menu (or he is showing off his powderful bicep).

Lemme tell you; there are no better company to spend your New Year drinking than these guys. I knew them for almost a year now, and every time we hang out, you'll always have the time of your life - laughing, doing crazy stuff, camwhoring, more laughing - and by the end of the day, you'll be looking forward to your next outing.

This time around, the ever so bising "Edmund" brought along a new friend from work; her name is Stacy Tracy Nancy. She was, like everyone, taken aback by our craziness at first but well, we are one bunch of lovable people, so she ended up loving all of us in the end.

Of course, we all started chatty and sober at first - like always, but ten jugs of Carlsberg later, things started to get a bit crazy, the R&D09 way! Like for example, "Edmund" started molesting Eezern:

And later, he turned his attention to Donny instead:

Of course, Donny didn't like it lah!

And because we have a few pro/semi-pro photographers in our ranks, we camwhored quite a bit too:

    And camwhored:

    And camwhored:

And our kooky + crazy + extremely fun dance instructor - who used to be hot as well until she surprised us with her yucky new hairstyle - Lili Kosin, decided to join us. Shorter hair or not, we still love you kays? =)

See, didn't I tell you she used to be hot?

But it was no surprise that Lili would join us because she is a total beer junkie. Just mention 'Carlsberg' and she will come and hug you and call you her BFF. And of course, we missed her too because it has been awhile since we last saw her. After a couple of jugs (I lost count!) our Carlsberg gal began hugging people:

We have to give it to her for being able to entertain us so much. Her new trick: the tampon-in-your-nose trick:

Sigh! Writing about this makes me miss the guys already. It's always fun to be able to hang out with the bunch. But yeah, that was how I spent my New Year. How did you spend yours?

And oh, not forgetting that Uncle Alvin managed to create a new type of beer. We call it the Beer Float:

    It was surprisingly kinda tasty!

    Meeting Ne-Yo and Jadyn Maria

One of the main reasons why I love my job as an entertainment writer - besides the fact that we get awesome freebies, eat free food, go to free concerts and being treated like kings and queens - is because I can attend events and rub shoulder with the celebrities. Like this, for example:

Yes, boys and girls, the gentleman with the beret is indeed R&B crooner Ne-Yo. The man was in town for his Year of the Gentlemen World Tour, taking place tomorrow at the Sunway Lagoon Surf Beach. Like the name of his tour suggest, Ne-Yo was a really cool guy - a real gentleman, to be exact. During the press conference, he talked about his charity foundation, his fashion style and even gave tips to us guys on how to treat a lady. Lucky us! ;)

But I know you guys are not interested in what Ne-Yo has to say, especially with the smoking hot lady sitting beside him, right? If you are wondering who she is, her name is Jadyn Maria. Jadyn is an up-and-coming singer, who happens to be Ne-Yo's (hot, hot) protege/first signing under his label. Ne-Yo told us that he signed her because she has kick-ass song-writing skills. A hot chick who can sing and write? Awesomness!

Lemme tell ya; the moment she walked into the room, everyone stopped and stared. Not only the guys, the gals in attendance too. I could hear a few girls whispering to themselves, "She is soooo pretty!". I swear, for that one moment, the spotlight was not on Ne-Yo. And not only that, pretty Jadyn - who is 24, by the way - has a really sweet, seductive voice and a great sense of humour too. When someone asked her to tell us something no one knows about Ne-Yo, she matter-of-factly answered:

"He loves McD's fillet-o-fish, with ketchup and no tartare sauce. Weird, right?" Then, a cute laugh. Ohh, I'm in lurve!

I know you guys can't get enough of Jadyn, so here's one more picture of Jadyn for you guys, photo credit goes to my buddy Ian Yee, who writes for The Star:

Hot, isn't she? And you know what the best part is? I get to see Ne-Yo and Jadyn Maria again tomorrow, thanks to this:

Ahhh! Have I told you how much I love my job?

UPDATE: Jadyn Maria actually REPLIED my Tweet! OMG OMG OMG! I fainted for 14.323 seconds!

    The Year That Was 2009

It's end of another year, and honestly, I do not know what to make of it. While some people would say that they have had a good 2009 or a bad 2009, I think I was lucky (or unlucky?) enough to have a mix of both - a little of good, a little of bad and yes, a little bit of ugly.

Here's a highlight of my most memorable moments of 2009:

    1) Quit a dead-end job...
The job I had heading into 2009 was fun in the beginning, but soon, a little case of company politics, a case of not being appreciated enough and supervisors turning against me, it was the most miserable time -and the worst job experience - I ever had in 2009. I have finally decided to quit the job which was, at that point, already a dead-end. I do not regret it one bit.

...but found a better, and dare I say, my dream job
I love my job now. I couldn't ask for anything better. I have always loved writing, and of course, I love writing for MSN Entertainment. And not to mention my kooky and crazy colleagues. Samantha would know what I'm talking about here =)

    2) Lost a few friends...
Although some due to silly misunderstandings, I think we are still friends. I HOPE we are still friends. No matter what, we are friends for life - we ride together, we die together! (For more buddy-buddy effect lah =p)

    ...but I made new ones
I am grateful to have met new friends along the way. You know who you are!

    3) Broke up with an ex-love...
It was turning into a turbulent relationship and I was beyond depressed at that point, therefore I have decided to end the relationship. It wasn't easy at first, but I thought it was something I had to do. Did not regret though.

...but later found someone I really, really like
Don't bother guessing who, you kaypochi's! I would deny, deny and deny!

    4) Joined Men's Health Refine & Define 2009 competition...
And it was the best six months of 2009 - and I would say the best six months of my life! I have learnt how to scuba dive, cook a three-course French meal, CPR and first aid, danced (yes, I did!) and even defensive driving. Yes, I'm Refined and Defined!

...and met 19 new, awesome friends
We have been through thick and thin together, and I would consider them as my brothers-in-arm. We always have fun no matter where we are. The funny thing is: we clicked almost instantly from the first time that we met. I think my life wouldn't be the same with these guys.

    5) Holiday-ed in Singapore...
The last time I went to Singapore was when I was just five. And it was a much-welcomed break from all the drama at that time.

    ...and Redang too!
It was my first time there, and I fell in love with the white, sandy beaches and the clear, blue ocean the moment I stepped foot there. I miss you already, Redang! I'll be back, wait for me!

    6) Ran my first marathon...
I have never ran a marathon before this, but it was something I have always wanted to do. Joined the Klang Community Run, managed to finish and almost got a medal. It was a really cool experience! It was liberating.

    ...and fed the homeless
Thanks to Kechara Soup Kitchen, I have an opportunity to see - and experience first hand - how grateful I should be for all that I have now. What we did was; we packed and delivered food to the homeless all around KL. Needless to say, it was seriously an eye-opening experience.

    ***

With 2009 out of the way, I hope 2010 holds new challenges for me. Happy 2010, all of you! May this year be your best year yet =)

All I Want To Do Is Run

“I was running before I hit the trees, my clothes strewn out behind me like a trail of crumbs — as if I wanted to find my way back. It was almost too easy now to phase. I didn’t have to think. My body already knew where I was going and, before I asked it to, it gave me what I wanted. I had four legs now, and I was flying.

The trees blurred into a sea of black flowing around me. My muscles bunched and released in an effortless rhythm. I could run like this for days and I would not be tired. Maybe, this time, I wouldn’t stop.”

Have you ever experienced, in one point of your life, that you just feel like running away and never come back? Where you leave everything behind and just run as far and as fast as you could, and never look back? Like nothing in the world matters to you anymore?

I did. I have thought about running away countless times, to anywhere my heart takes me. They say we should not run away from our problems, instead we should stand up and fight them. And I totally agree with them on that. I do not endorse running away from all of your problems, but a little breather won’t hurt, right? How long can you fight a war - a war that could potentially wipe off your existence - without taking time off to ponder about your next move?

It’s not necessary a bad thing, sometimes, to just run and forget about all your problems, all that mess and all the undefined feelings you have. I mean, who doesn’t want to run to a place where you can lie down and look at the stars, hear the waves and just let your mind wander off. A place where you can cry all you want, or shout as loud as can. A place where you can be who you want without people judging you, or a place where you can just run as far as your legs can take you.

I guess what I’m trying to say here is that it is perfectly OK if you think of running away sometimes. Not from all of your problems because you still would have to face them when you come back, but a little time alone might be all that you need.

So run; run as far as you could! Nobody is stopping you, and nobody should. It is your life after all, so take control of it!

And how I wish I could be Jacob Black now - phasing and running as far and as fast as I could. Lucky bugger!

    Transform And Roll Out

After a week of anxious waiting, my new keychain has arrived! How cool is this?

    A Movie Review: Sherlock Holmes

As the year 2009 is coming to a close and the year’s blockbuster movies have come and gone, there aren’t much high-profile movies left till we usher in the new year. One of it was Avatar (which is actually a no-brainer). The other, was of course, Sherlock Holmes, starring Robert Downey Jr., Jude Law and Rachel McAdams. Movie review below:

Plus points: Robert Downey Jr., hands down. Although it was supposed to be a detective/mystery movie, it is surprisingly a very funny and very witty movie too - thanks largely to Robert’s undeniable charisma. The Sherlock Holmes-Dr. Watson partnership was portrayed to perfection by Robert and Jude, and you can see from the start of the movie that the chemistry between the two was there. But of course, Robert’s portrayal of the genius detective was absolutely fabulous. He managed to bring life and much-needed humour to the sometimes-boring legendary detective. In this movie, Robert showed us why he is one of Hollywood’s most talented actors. Yes, he is that good!

Minus points: I do not have much complains about the movie, although you might get lost in the plot a little bit. Just a little bit. But what do you expect, it’s a detective movie after all.

Should you or shouldn’t you: Yes, yes and yes. This movie is worth every penny.

25 Things We Guys Love About Girls

First off, I didn’t write the list. I read it somewhere and I thought it is worth sharing. And I’m pretty sure most guys would agree that these are the things we like most about girls - boobs and asses aside!

Just so you know, I do agree with all of them. I read the list and imagine the person I care most about doing all these things, and seriously, it put a smile on my face. So you see girls, we guys are not (always) about boobs and asses. Just sometimes! :P

25 Things We Guys Love About Girls

    1) They will always smell good even if its just shampoo

    2) The way their heads always find the right spot on our shoulder

    3) How cute they look when they sleep

    4) The ease in which they fit into our arms

    5) The way they kiss you and all of a sudden everything is right in the world

    6) How cute they are when they eat

    7) The way they take hours to get dressed but in the end makes it all worth while

    8) Because they are always warm even when its minus 30 out side

    9) The way they look good no matter what they wear

    10) The way they fish for compliments even though you both know that you think she’s the most beautiful thing on this earth

    11) How cute they are when they argue

    12) The way her hand always finds yours

    13) The way they smile

    14) The way you feel when you see their name on the caller ID after you just had a big fight

    15) The way she says “lets not fight anymore” even though you know that an hour later you will be arguing about something

    16) The way they kiss when you do something nice for them

    17) The way they kiss you when you say “I love you’

    18) Actually, just the way they kiss you

    19) The way they fall into your arms when they cry

    20) Then the way they apologize for crying over something that silly

    21) The way they hit you and expect it to hurt

    22) Then the way they apologize when it does hurt . (even though we don’t admit it)!

    23) The way they say “I miss you”

    24) The way you miss them

    25) The way their tears make you want to change the world so that it doesn’t hurt her anymore.
